What’s more important – being able to SELL your product, or being able to BUILD your product.
To put it another way, which of these models do you subscribe to – a) if you have an idea, and you know how to sell it, you can outsource everything else (including building the product), or b) if you have an idea, and you know how to build it, you can outsource everything else (including the sales and marketing).
It tends to be the case that people congregate on one side of that argument or the other, and as far as I can tell it tends to be whether author of such posts prefers to sell things or build things – sort of makes sense, it’s a built-in bias.
But for me, you can’t choose to do one of those two things. Being able to build an excellent product and being excellent at selling it – both of those things are mission critical.
